Milan, Meet the Experts Evening and EPAP in Italian
On 11 September, a "Meet the Experts" evening organized by the European Lung Foundation (ELF) took place in the Palazzo Reale next to the Duomo as part of the Healthy Lungs for Life campaign. The evening was dedicated to patients and citizens and this annual event is always very well attended. The public heard presentations from several prestigious healthcare professionals about the latest developments in research and were able to ask numerous questions. For this reason, it was considered a good time to launch and introduce the Italian version of EPAP during the evening.

Who are we?
The Accademia dei Pazienti (www.accademiadeipazienti.org) is a not for profit organization, started in 2014. Its main aim is to raise awareness in patients and to educate them in the field of Research and Development of medicines, based on the EUPATI (European Patients' Academy on Therapeutic Innovation) project. Why were we chosen?
The European Lung Foundation contacted Accademia dei Pazienti in 2015 to collaborate on the translation of the EPAP Course in Italian. The Accademia dei Pazienti team readily accepted and reviewed the various modules. The team found that the translation was of excellent quality, and the Course content was well developed and informative and provides a great introduction level course for people who may who on to do EUPATI.
ELF asked Accademia dei Pazienti to become a partner in EPAP. Accademia dei Pazienti readily accepted as they considered the Course was very valid and moreover, instructive and well designed. EPAP definitely fell into our vision and mission, which is patient empowerment.
What have we done?
Earlier this year, the EPAP Course was unanimously endorsed by the Accademia dei Pazienti's prestigious Scientific Board, through which we run our educational projects for approval.

The Accademia dei Pazienti Newsletter was sent in October to promote the EPAP Course to the members of our platform (approximately 450 subscribers)
